My Magic Christmas Tree

It’s the most wonderful time of the year!!!! As I sit here and scroll through the countless stunning styled Christmas trees in my insta feed, I can’t help but fall more and more in love with my own tree.

I want to tell you guys about why I DON’T have a perfectly styled Christmas tree.

Don’t get me wrong… styled Christmas trees are like festive works of art! I think they’re super fun and people can be super creative with them. But let me tell you… my tree is the most special of them all.

5 years ago Max and I were in our tiny apartment for our first Christmas. We had gone and cut down a tree and strung the lights, but we didn’t have a single ornament, and we didn’t have enough money to go out and buy enough to cover an entire tree.

So we went and picked up as many arts and crafts supplies as we could afford and set up Santa’s shop on the floor of our living room. We spent the entire weekend with Max’s younger siblings (at that point they were only 8 and 12ish) hand making every single one of our ornaments and watching our favorite Christmas movies. And for Christmas that year, my grandfather hand made me a set of ornaments in his woodworking shop!

Max and I battled over what to put at the top of our tree. I grew up with an angel and he grew up with a star. But then my mom found the most perfect compromise in Christmas history: an angel holding a star. I mean come on.

Over the last 5 years we’ve collected ornaments, and been given a handful each year as gifts. Every year our tree fills up just a little more. But every single ornament has a story, and little bit of love trapped in it.

For me, a tree filled with memories, love, and Christmas tradition, is far more beautiful than any sort of styled tree that I could ever put together. Some of the most important people in my life styled my tree for me!

People wonder why I have more Christmas cheer than Buddy the Elf, but just take a one look at my tree and you’ll understand.
