WW Wednesday: Homemade Pasta Sauce

We recently watched a Netflix documentary called, The Magic Pill. It’s all about the Keto diet, and not putting a ton of processed crap into our bodies (I HIGHLY recommend watching it). The general rule of thumb is if it didn’t come from the ground, or it isn’t grass fed, don’t eat it. Pretty basic. And while Max and I aren’t going Keto, we are trying to use some of those practices in our life. Like let’s be real, I’m not giving up flavored creamer in my coffee… that’s a direct link to my happiness. But we do want to start cutting out as much processed food, and sugar as we can! One thing that we eat a lot of is pasta sauce. We put it on pasta, chicken, pizza, whatever. But there’s quite a bit of sugar in a jar of sauce, it’s just a little concerning that it has a 100 year shelf life. So I came up with a super simple homemade pasta sauce recipe that is Keto, 0 WW points, Paleo, and Whole 30 friendly!!!

What you’ll need:
12 Fresh Tomatoes – Diced
1 White Onion – Chopped
3 Cloves Fresh Minced Garlic
1 TBSP Fresh Basil – Chopped
Salt & Pepper to Taste

Chop all ingredients. Make sure your tomatoes are peeled. BUT. I can’t tell ya what the best way to peel a tomato is because I don’t effing know. It was a huge pain. So if you know how to do it without losing half the tomato… help a homie out.

Place all ingredients in the crockpot, set to low, and let cook for 8 hours stirring every once in awhile. Your house is gonna smell so good!!!!

Let cool in a medium sized bowl.

On a low speed blend the sauce with an emersion blender (if you don’t have one… go get one. They’re magic. This is the one I have) until you get the texture that you want. I like my sauce a little on the smoother side because the texture of tomatoes freaks me out. Place in a mason jar and you’re done!!

It is literally so easy, and my house smelled amazing all dang day. It feels great to know that I can cut out that one item of processed food from our lives. Baby steps!
