WW Wednesday: Low Point Baked Ziti

If you live in New England you already know we’re still smack in the middle of freezing cold COMFORT FOOD season! Finding healthy low point comfort food can be a huge challenge, but it doesn’t have to be! Little back story about this recipe. We are huge Disney fans around here. And our favorite place to stay in Disney is Port Orleans! Port Orleans River Side has a freaking FANTASTIC pasta bar, where they have……. wait for it…… BAKED ZITI!! Max and I used to go super late at night and share a massive plate of it at like 9pm. It was magical. So freaking good. SO. I came up with my own low point spinoff recipe! And it is just as dang good as Disney’s if I do say so myself. #mickeyapproved Here’s what you’ll need!

Step 1: Preheat oven to 375 degrees

Step 2: Cook pasta according to box directions. Roughly 9 minutes. You want it to still be firm. It’ll cook the rest of the way in the oven.

Step 3: Brown ground turkey in a non-stick sauce pan over medium heat. If you use a non-stick pan you don’t need any sort of oil, so less points!

Step 4: Dump sauce in with the ground turkey and let simmer while the pasta finishes cooking.

Step 5: Once pasta is cooked, stir in meat sauce and poor into whatever you’d like to bake the ziti in. Sorry I know this is vague. But fortunately you can really use whatever! I use my Staub dutch oven and it is WONDERFUL. I know those are an investment but if you can budget for it…. do it.

Step 6: Sprinkle shredded cheese over pasta.

Step 7: Bake for 20 minutes or until cheese is bubbly.

Step 8: EAT UP BUTTERCUP!

THAT’S IT! It’s sooooooooo easy and so freaking yummy. I hope you guys enjoy!
