2 steps that are saving my skin

I somehow managed to skate through my teenage years with no acne. Not even a little bit. I took that for granted. For whatever reason as an adult, my acne has been the WORST. It’s constant, it’s yucky, and it’s all around my jaw line. It makes me want to pull my hair out.

I’ve spent a TON of time (and money) trying various cult favorite skincare brands and routines, with no success. After doing some research, it occurred to me that my acne popped up when I changed what I was using for birth control. Imagine that. Hormones. Figure out why it’s happening… check. Now to find out how to fix this shit. Turns out acne can be caused (don’t quote me I’m by NO means an expert. This is simple information that I found online) by a build of skin cells if there isn’t enough cell turnover going on. Basically I needed to exfoliate. Which is how to started my 2 step cleaning process that has slowly but surely fixed my skin!

  1. Double (triple-ish) cleans. What a game changer. It sounds like a pain in the ass but it’s so worth it. I start off by using a makeup wipe to take off the majority of the goop on my face. Then I wash with the Tula Purifying Cleaner to remove whatever I missed with the wipe. Tula is SUPER gentle, so it’s perfect for removing eye makeup, and it doesn’t dry out your skin whatsoever. For my second round of cleansing I use Neutrogena Hydro Boost Exfoliating Cleanser. This stuff is what’s up. It deep deep cleans my skin and leaves it feeling so soft.
  2. Obviously exfoliating with the Neutrogena Hydro Boost Exfoliating Cleanser. It’s gentle enough that it doesn’t feel like my skin is being ripped off my face, but it pulls off all the dead grimy skin cells, which is forcing that cell turnover. Best part? It’s under $8.

While my skin is still a working progress, it looks better than it has in like 4 years, just from these two simple changes I’ve made. Below I’ve linked all the products I’m currently using in my morning/nighttime skincare routine!
