2019 Beauty Roundup: the good, the bad, and the rebuys

Happy 2020 my friends!!! It has been. a. minute. This last year I have been a total beauty product addict. I have LOVED trying new products and experimenting with various things. I didn’t wear a whole lot of makeup in high school or college, so this has been like a whole new world to me. I thought it would be super fun to roundup every product (excluding hair products) that I purchased in 2019 and review each of them! Not gonna lie to you… this is gonna be a long one… get comfy.

NYX Professional Makeup HD Finishing Powder: This my go to drug store setting powder! It’s inexpensive, doesn’t settle into any lines, and is really light weight. Win, win, win.
Too Faced Born This Way Super Coverage Concealer: I actually didn’t love this product when I first tried it, but I stuck with it and now I love it! It was simply a matter of figuring out how much to use at a time. Now that I know what I need for coverage, it has quickly turned into a go to option for me for the winter months.
Wet n’ Wild Photo Focus Stick Foundation: This is one of my fastest foundations to apply, so if you’re constantly on the go, this is for you. I will say it doesn’t sit very well on dry skin, so it’s reserved for the summer time in my makeup lineup.
Physicians Formula Powder Palette Blush: I think I just have a hard time with blush to tell you the truth. I do enjoy this palette, but the colors are fairly cool tones, which is great for winter but I’ll need to find something different in the summer.
Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara: More often than not I tend to grab this mascara. It’s an awesome go to and adds tons of volume. My only complaint is that it does smudge a bit under my eyes, but it stays put very well when I layer it with the Benefit BADgal Bang mascara.
Urban Decay Perversion Mascara: This is a new try for me! I grabbed it with my points from Sephora and it’s super similar to the Too Faced mascara. I do think this one thickens my lashes the best out of all the others.
Nars Blush: This is by far my favorite blush in the color orgasm. It goes on perfectly and is just so nice and glowy. It’s just a little pricier than I like.
Tarte Amazonian Clay Waterproof Bronzer: I love the tones of this bronzer, and how it applies. It gives the perfect summery bronze blown out look. The only reason why I likely will not purchase it again is because the palette itself is super small and hard to use with a bigger brush.

Elf Perfect Finish HD Powder: I had super high hopes for this product but it settles right on into annnnyyyy line it can find and ends up looking pretty caky.
Becca Sunlit Bronzer: I love the color of this bronzer but unfortunately it applies really strangely. Regardless of the type of brush, it applies as a weirdly harsh line that requires more blending than I actually want to take time to do.
Trate Maracuja Creaseless Undereye Concealer: I was really disappointed with this one… I had hoped it would be a nice sister product for the Shape Tape, but it doesn’t last even half the day and settles into lines.
Elf Blush Palette: This one is a little funny for me… I enjoyed it because it has really strong pigments and pretty warm colors, but the actual product itself fell apart realllllly fast in the palette. It broke apart and ended up being real messy and just not worth using.
Wet n’ Wild Blush: This blush was really weird to use. It went on super super bright, but doesn’t blend at all to soften the color. I just ended up looking like a doll and not in a cute way.
Too Faced Peach Perfect Mattifying Setting Powder: This is another setting powder that instantly set into the lines under my eyes and didn’t actually help my makeup stay where it should be. However, I did like the consistency of it, and it smelled quite nice.
Drunk Elephant Lala Retro Whipped Moisturizer: I think my expectations were just too high with this one. Every Drunk Elephant product I’ve tried I’ve been obsessed with, but this just didn’t do anything for my skin.

It Cosmetics CC+ Cream: This cult favorite absolutely lives up to the hype. It’s super easy to control the amount of coverage you want and it does not move from your face even a little bit during the day.
Benefit Cosmetics BADgal BANG! Mascara: This has been one of my favorite base coat mascaras. I tend to use it under other brands. But it does an amazing job of fanning and lengthening my very thin and semi pathetic lashes.
Laura Mercier Translucent Setting Powder: This is really the only loose setting powder I actually like. It doesn’t make a massive mess and it’s one of the only brands that doesn’t settle into the fine lines under my eyes.
Tarte SEA Quench Lip Rescue Balm: I have a serious problem when it comes to these things. The problem being that I own 100 of them and stash them all over the place. In my coat pocket, my desk, my bathroom, my car. Literally everywhere. It’s super moisturizing and light, and you don’t need a mirror to apply it because it goes on like a chapstick!
Tarte Shape Tape: This is another cult favorite that is all that and a bag of chips. A little goes a long way so your supply is sure to last, and it’s super easy to control how much coverage you’re looking for.
Maybelline Instant Age Rewine Eraser Concealer: This is the best drug store concealer that I have ever used. It’s lighter on coverage than the Tape Shape is, but it feels super weightless and lasts perfectly all day. 10/10 recommend.
Physician’s Formula Murumuru Butter Bronzer: So not only does this bronzer smell amazing (yes you read that right) but it gives you the perfect summer glow everyone wants out of a bronzer.
Wet n’ Wild Photo Focus Foundation: This is easily the best drug store dupe for the IT cosmetics CC+ cream. It’s really lightweight and doesn’t settle into any lines.
Trish McEvoy Lash Curling Mascara: I think this is the most underrated mascara ever to exist. It’s THE only mascara that doesn’t melt down onto my under eye throughout the day. It’s also the easiest makeup to take off ever. Just get it a little wet and it pulls off like fake lashes. Incredible.
Drunk Elephant C-Firma Vitamin C Day Serum: This is one of my favorite steps in my skincare routine. It instantly wakes me up and leaves my skins feeling super refreshed.
Drunk Elephant Virgin Marula Oil: Don’t roll your eyes when you see the price of this one… lemme tell ya… it is worth every. single. penny. It’s moisturizing, and smoothing, and in general just insanely amazing. I use it last in my skincare routine and it helps my makeup gone on beautifully.
Drunk Elephant TLC Night Serum: I’m a big believer in a nightly skin treatment, and this is by far the best one that I have tried. It works while you sleep to moisturize and tone.
GENIUS Liquid Collagen: I LOVE this stuff. It plumps up my skin after only one use and helps take care of the lines under my eyes. It is wildly expensive so I only ever have it when it’s a free sample at Sephora.
Tula Cult Favorite Purifying Cleanser: There’s a reason this is referred to as a cult favorite… it’s super gentle and gets all the junk that’s deep in your pores.
Tula Oil Free Face Moisturizer: Part of living in New Hampshire means having to put up with insanely drying winter weather. That quite literally destroys your skin. Still wondering why I live here. This moisturizer is the ONLY product that keeps my skin smooth and happy all year long. It’s honestly a magic potion.
Tula Pro-Glycolic Resurfacing Toner: I don’t think that I’ve ever had a product last as long and be as effective as this. This toner totally evens out my skin and you only need one pump so it seriously lasts forever.
Becca Under Eye Brightening Corrector: This has become a complete staple in my beauty routine. I have pretty terrible dark circles regardless of how much sleep I get, and this brightener totally takes care of it.
